The Woods Arson Prevention Association was formed in 1989, it's purpose is to significantly reduce woods arson in Southwest Louisiana. This non profit organization is comprised of individual and corporate members concerned about the economic and environmental effect of woods arson. The Woods Arson Prevention Association develops strategies and implements programs to accomplish its purpose.

The objectives of the association are as follows:
- To promote public awareness about timberland arson.
- To seek public support and assistance in eliminating woods arson.
- To inform communities of the economic impact of woods arson.
- To improve public understanding of the impact of the timber industy.
- To cooperate with local officials for arrest and prosecution of woods arson cases.
The association uses all forms of public relations, advertising and personal contact to accomplish this purpose.
The Woods Arson Prevention Association is the voice of the community to combat the willful and malicious destruction of our forest resources.
